Raleigh Man Arrested in Pennsylvania for Murder of NC High School Coach
Dillard, 57, a recovery teacher and high school basketball coach, was found stabbed to death in her Raleigh, North Carolina, home on Thursday, according to the Raleigh Police Department.
The discovery of Dillard’s body followed a welfare check requested by family members who had not heard from her. When officers arrived at the residence on Whistling Straits Way at 12:18 p.m. Thursday, they found Dillard with injuries the Raleigh Police Department described as consistent with a stabbing. Rickey Harper was not present at the scene.
Flock Camera Technology Tracks Suspect Across State Lines
Raleigh police utilized Flock cameras to identify Harper’s vehicle and track his movements as he fled North Carolina. The Raleigh Police Department stated that these cameras provided the investigative leads necessary to locate Harper in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He was taken into custody by the Plymouth Township Police Department at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Friday.
The News & Observer has reported that several North Carolina towns and cities have canceled their contracts with Flock due to community backlash regarding privacy concerns and the scope of data collection.
