Rafael araneda Reflects on Mother’s Passing at 97, Shares Emotional Journey
Miami, FL – Renowned television host Rafael Araneda is opening up about the recent death of his mother, Laura Maturana Guillier, who passed away at the age of 97. The Chilean personality shared his profound grief and complex emotions during a recent appearance on the program “Podemos Hablar.”
Araneda, who is based in Miami, spoke candidly about the challenges of witnessing his mother’s declining health in her later years. “It was super hard and super gratifying at the same time, it is very contradictory,” he admitted, explaining the bittersweet nature of saying goodbye.
He described the difficult period of senile dementia and total dependence his mother experienced, stating, “I feel that I lost the mother much earlier. I lost it as I didn’t recognize me, I spoke to her and didn’t look at her… as we stopped connecting.” Araneda emphasized the deep bond they shared,noting,”And with her we were pure connection,so strong our connection,that seeing her prostrate so many years made me lose hope that I was with my laurel.”
The host expressed gratitude for being in Chile at the time of his mother’s death, describing his arrival as “shocking” and unplanned. “That weekend we arrived and when I saw her, I was weak, super round, and did not spend the weekend. I am grateful that it has been,” he shared, reflecting on the prospect to be present.
Araneda also commented on the difficulties of aging in Chile, stating, “In this country it is indeed very difficult to be old, and I had the privilege of giving my mom a pretty old age.” His heartfelt reflections offer a poignant look at love, loss, and the enduring impact of maternal connection.
