Quinta Brunson Creates Fund for Philadelphia School Field Trips

Quinta Brunson Launches Fund to Expand Philadelphia Students’ Access to Educational Field trips

PHILADELPHIA, PA ⁢- december‌ 3, 2023 ​ – Abbott Elementary star and Philadelphia native Quinta Brunson today announced the launch of ⁣the Quinta Brunson‍ Field Trip ⁣Fund, a ​new initiative designed to provide ‍free, enriching⁢ out-of-classroom experiences for students within the School District of Philadelphia. The fund aims to support access for over 117,000 children.

Brunson, who⁢ unveiled the fund on Giving Tuesday, emphasized the profound‌ impact field trips had on her own upbringing.⁤ “Field trips were some of the most memorable parts of‌ my own education growing up in Philadelphia,” Brunson saeid‍ in a statement. “They opened my world, sparked my creativity,⁢ and helped me imagine a future beyond what I saw ‍every day.”

The initiative will cover the⁣ costs associated with visits to Philadelphia’s numerous museums and landmarks. Brunson jumpstarted the fund with a personal donation of $20,000,as shared in‌ a video posted to her Instagram account.

“Going somewhere new​ shows you that the world is bigger and more exciting than you⁢ believe, and it can shape what you come to ‍see as achievable,” Brunson continued. “I’m proud to support Philadelphia students with experiences that remind them their dreams are valid and their‌ futures are bright.”

The launch of the ⁣fund follows Brunson being awarded a key to the city⁤ earlier this year at⁣ her​ former elementary school, ‍Andrew ‌Hamilton School, in ‍West Philadelphia -⁤ the very institution, and a retired⁣ teacher there, that served as the inspiration for her Emmy Award-winning series, abbott⁤ Elementary.
