ALMERE, netherlands – An incident occurred Tuesday during a visit by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima to teh ROC van Flevoland educational institution in Almere, where a student’s hand made contact with Queen Máxima’s head, causing her to adjust her hat. The royal couple was interacting with students when the incident took place. Reactions to video footage of the event have been divided, with some observers suggesting the contact was accidental, while others question the student’s intent. Social media responses ranged from accusations of disrespect to speculation that the student may have lost his balance and reacted reflexively. one commenter noted the student appeared to be pushed from behind, while another claimed he was intentionally filming the moment.

During the visit, the royal couple engaged with nine groups of students, discussing their respective courses. They also held discussions with representatives from business and education regarding improved engagement of young people in the technical sector.

Prior to the incident, King Willem-Alexander participated in a reaction-speed game against 18-year-old student Jared van der Weegen, a sports and movement coordinator at the school. van der Weegen won the game, stating he was only five taps faster than the King, who he described as “a worthy opponent.” Van der Weegen aspires to become a sports masseur for Ajax.
