Quality Control Co-Founder Pierre P Thomas Hospitalized After Heart Attack
Quality Control Music co-founder Pierre “P” Thomas was hospitalized in Las Vegas following a heart attack on Friday, amid unverified social media rumors regarding his health.
Untangling the Rumors and Clarifying the Hospitalization
Conflicting posts circulated widely across social media on Friday, falsely suggesting that Pierre “P” Thomas had died. In response to the online speculation, Quality Control Music released an official statement on Instagram, which was subsequently provided to outlets including Variety and Complex, clarifying the situation. “We want to clarify that Pierre ‘P’ Thomas is alive and currently hospitalized receiving medical care,” the label announced. The statement urged the public to keep Thomas and his family in their thoughts, requested privacy, and expressed deep appreciation for the outpouring of concern and support.
TMZ first reported the medical emergency on Friday morning, stating that Thomas suffered a heart attack and was admitted to a Las Vegas hospital. According to sources with direct knowledge cited by TMZ, Thomas was monitored in the intensive care unit with family members present. Representatives for Thomas confirmed to XXL that he remained hospitalized as of Friday. Rolling Stone noted that the label’s formal clarification arrived directly on the heels of unverified online commentary regarding his status. Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Thomas’s business partner, has not issued a separate public statement, and the label has not yet announced when a subsequent medical update will be provided.
The health crisis comes during a high-profile week for the executives. Earlier in the week, Thomas and Lee were named to Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players list, cementing their ongoing influence in the industry.
Building a Hip-Hop Empire and Diversifying Enterprise
Thomas and Lee founded Quality Control in Atlanta in 2013, quickly building it into one of the defining hip-hop operations of the decade. The company’s trajectory shifted rapidly when Migos signed within a month of its founding, according to Variety. Over the subsequent decade, the roster expanded to include major hitmakers such as Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, City Girls, Duke Deuce, Lakeyah, Rich the Kid, OG Maco, and Stefflon Don, alongside a period managing Cardi B. Billboard previously named Thomas and Lee its Executives of the Year in 2018.

The enterprise grew far beyond traditional recorded music. Quality Control branched into artist management, music publishing, and film production via QC Films. In 2019, the co-founders launched a boutique sports agency, Quality Control Sports, representing professional athletes such as Alvin Kamara, Jarrett Allen, and Jorge Mateo. Corporate restructuring followed in 2023 when Hybe America acquired Quality Control in a deal financial disclosures placed at approximately $300 million. Scooter Braun served as chief executive of Hybe America during the acquisition before departing in July 2025.
