Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, arrived in Abu Dhabi on Saturday for a visit to the United Arab Emirates, according to state news agencies.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, personally welcomed Sheikh Tamim at Al Batin Airport, the official WAM news agency reported. The visit is described as “brotherly” by both the Qatari and Emirati governments.
Accompanying the Emir of Qatar were Sheikh Jasim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir’s personal representative; Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Asian Olympic Council and Chairman of the Qatar Olympic Committee; and Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Head of the Emiri Diwan, the Qatari News Agency stated.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani subsequently discussed bilateral relations and regional developments, according to Al Khaleej newspaper. The discussions focused on efforts to address ongoing regional issues and promote stability.
Likewise present at the airport to greet Sheikh Tamim were Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor; Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court for Developmental Affairs and Martyrs Families; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President; and a number of other senior officials.
