Jesse Puljujärvi Dumps Car for E-Bike in Switzerland: “Can’t Stand the Hassle of Parking”
Geneva, Switzerland – Jesse Puljujärvi, the Finnish hockey star now playing for Geneve-Servette, has traded in a team-issued Škoda for an electric bicycle, citing the ease of navigating swiss cities and a dislike for parking challenges. The move reflects a broader shift towards lasting transportation embraced by the player since relocating to Europe.
Puljujärvi, accustomed to car dependency in North America, has quickly adapted to Switzerland’s bike-friendly infrastructure. “At the end of America, there was always a car everywhere. Now I bought an electric bike and cycling everywhere here. It’s just the top. You don’t have to go anywhere by car,” he said.”The bike paths are really fine here.” He added with a laugh, “And there will be no parking lots on the fillar.Or at least not yet.”
The Geneve-Servette team provides Škoda vehicles to all players, but Puljujärvi’s preference for cycling highlights a growing trend among athletes and residents prioritizing eco-friendly alternatives. The team is coached by a Finnish duo,Ville Peltonen and Pekka Kangasalu, working alongside head coach Yorick Treille, who remembers a five-game series against HIFK in the 2002-03 season.
