Puebla to Host 2025 U21 Beach volleyball World Championship
Mexico City,September 10 (El Global) – The Government of Puebla will host the 2025 U21 Beach Volleyball World Championship in San Pedro Cholula from October 15-19. The event is expected to draw 80 teams representing over 30 countries, and will be held in a temporary stadium constructed in Soria Park.
Governor Alejandro Armenta highlighted the importance of sport as state policy,emphasizing the synergy between sporting events,tourism,and security in driving economic benefits throughout Puebla,particularly in San Pedro Cholula. He affirmed his administration’s support for the vision of Rommel Pacheco and President Claudia Sheinbaum to foster social integration through sport, culture, and art.
Rommel Pacheco, Director General of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE), underscored the value of investing in sport, noting its immediate positive impact and its role in preparing athletes for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. He emphasized sport’s potential to combat social issues like addiction and promote healthy lifestyles for young people.
Tickets for the championship will be available for approximately 100 pesos, according to Gaby “La Ponita” Sánchez, Secretary of sport in Puebla. This marks the second time mexico has been selected to host the U21 Beach Volleyball World Championship.
Jesús Perales Navarro,President of the Mexican Volleyball Federation (FMVB),noted that Mexico has hosted 14 international volleyball events,solidifying its position as a leading organizer within the Confederation and at the international federation level. He expressed enthusiasm for the continued growth of volleyball, citing its global popularity as the third moast practiced sport worldwide, and advocating for its inclusion in schools across Mexico to build a strong volleyball community.
