The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has confirmed that its leadership has made a decision regarding a seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming Khyber pakhtunkhwa (K-P) senate elections, but the party’s incarcerated founder, Imran Khan, has yet to provide his endorsement or rejection of the deal. PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja stated on Monday that the party would adhere to whatever decision Khan makes if he does not accept the current arrangement.

Raja elaborated that there were differing opinions within the party regarding participation in the Senate elections. Ultimately, the decision to contest was made after an adjustment was reached with the opposition.He further revealed that last week, PTI leader Advocate Zaheer Abbas presented names for four general Senate seats on behalf of the party’s founder.

Addressing potential discrepancies, Raja expressed confidence that Zaheer Abbas had accurately conveyed the facts. He emphasized that decisions within the PTI are not made unilaterally, and the matter was communicated to K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, though Raja declined to comment on any pressures Gandapur might have faced. The founder’s list, according to Raja, included candidates for four general seats, one technocrat seat, and one women’s seat, with discussions primarily focused on these five positions.
