Portland Protesters Mock trump’s ‘War Zone’ Claims with⁣ Costume Display

October 13, 2025

Dozens of demonstrators gathered ‌outside a U.S. ‍Immigration adn Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, October ⁤12, 2025, to protest the trump governance’s policies on mass deportations and the proposed deployment of the national Guard to the city. A striking⁢ element of the protest was the use of inflatable costumes, employed by many participants to satirize President Trump‘s characterization of Portland as a “war zone.”

The protest underscored growing tensions between the federal government and local‌ activists ⁢regarding immigration enforcement and the use of federal agents in cities critical of the administration’s policies.

Sarah cimino: “Yes, we ⁤are‌ dressed up to show how ridiculous it is indeed. This ⁢is not a war zone. It only becomes a war zone when federal agents come and repress us ⁢protesters, who are‌ fighting for our community. As you just saw, they come, shoot pepper spray bullets and grab⁣ people.”

Adam: “I’m here tonight as this is literally crazy. We‌ have these guys dressed head to toe in military uniforms, basically in costume, taking to the streets⁤ as the president of the United States, the top official which ⁤we all used to have respect for, is saying that this is a war-torn city with destroyed buildings.”

The use of costumes was a intentional tactic to highlight what protesters perceive ⁣as a disconnect between the President’s rhetoric and ‌the‍ reality on the ground in⁤ Portland. The demonstration reflects a broader movement ⁢challenging federal overreach and advocating for more humane immigration policies.
