National Recall Issued for Manchester Drinks CO Ice Slush Products Sold at action Stores
Recent official analyses have triggered a national recall for two flavors of Ice Slush drinks sold exclusively at Action stores across France. The products, ice Slush Strawberry 250ml (GTIN 5060193939568) and Ice slush Blue Strawberry 250ml (GTIN 5060193939575), were found too contain glycerol levels exceeding the legally permitted limit. The recall affects all units sold between June 11th and August 8th, 2025.
Glycerol is a common food additive generally considered safe in low doses. However, consumption of products with excessively high glycerol concentrations, particularly when consumed quickly, can lead to adverse health effects. Symptoms may include headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and, in severe cases, loss of consciousness - with children and individuals of low weight being particularly vulnerable.
The recall is a result of increased vigilance in food safety controls and the proactive application of the precautionary principle.French health authorities are urging consumers who have purchased these Ice Slush drinks to immediately refrain from consuming them and to return them to any action store for a full refund.
A dedicated consumer hotline (01 55 56 41 52) has been established to address any questions or concerns. The return period for the recalled products is open until October 8th, 2025.
This incident underscores the growing trend of product recalls across various food categories – including cheeses, cold cuts, and prepared drinks – and highlights the importance of staying informed about potential food safety risks. Authorities emphasize that regular verification of purchased products, even outside of specific recall notices, is a crucial step in protecting public health. Consumers are also advised to retain purchase receipts to facilitate the refund process.
