Prince William Reveals He and Kate Discussed Her Cancer Diagnosis with Children, Limits Their Phone Access
BELÉM, BRAZIL – Prince William has disclosed that he and the Princess of Wales discussed her cancer diagnosis with their three children, Prince george, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and are carefully managing their exposure to technology. Speaking at the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, the Prince also revealed the children currently do not have mobile phones.
The Prince’s comments offer a rare glimpse into the family’s private life as the Princess of Wales continues her treatment. He explained that Prince George might be permitted a phone with “limited access” when he begins secondary school next year, acknowledging the growing challenge of navigating technology with children. This comes after the Princess of Wales recently warned about the impact of smartphones and digital devices on young children’s development in an essay published by her Royal Foundation Center for Early childhood.
“it’s really hard,” William said. “It’s getting to the point where it’s becoming a little bit of a tense issue, but I think he understands why.” He further elaborated, “We communicate why we don’t think it’s right, and again, I think it’s the internet access I have a problem with. I think children can access too much stuff they don’t need to see online.”
