Prince William Signals Shift in Relationship with Prince harry During New Interview
WINDSOR, UK – Prince William has offered a subtle indication of the current state of his relationship with Prince Harry, referencing his brother in the past tense during a recent interview. The comments came as part of a broader conversation about the pressures faced by the royal family and a desire to avoid repeating past media practices.
During an interview with actor Eugene Levy for Apple TV+, William expressed hope that the royal family would not “go back to some of the practices in the past that Harry and I had to grow up in,” adding he would “do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”
Royal historian Robert Lacey interpreted the phrasing as significant, telling People Magazine that William “talked about his brother in the past, as part of his life – not in the future.”
The interview arrives after years of public scrutiny surrounding a family rift stemming from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step back from royal duties in 2020. The couple later participated in an interview with Oprah Winfrey and a Netflix docuseries, detailing their experiences as working royals.
Levy, who conducted the interview at Windsor Castle, noted that while he was not prohibited from asking about Harry and meghan,he chose not to pursue the topic, describing it as a “very delicate issue.” Royal biographer Andrew Morton suggested avoiding the subject altogether is the best approach to encourage openness from the Prince of Wales.
The interview also saw Prince William open up about the personal challenges of 2024, describing it as “the hardest year I’ve ever had” following cancer diagnoses for both King Charles and Princess Kate. He stated, ”Life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.” Princess Kate announced her diagnosis in March 2024.
The full interview, titled ‘Living the Royal Life in the UK,’ is currently available to stream on Apple TV+.
