Prince William traveled to Ilminster this week to introduce the Ready Together toolkit, designed to help UK communities build practical response plans for emergencies such as wildfires and severe flooding. BBC reported that the Prince of Wales was joined by actor and documentary journalist Ross Kemp during the visit. The pair participated in training exercises with local volunteers and young people, meeting members of the Ilminster Resilience Group who support residents during emergencies.

Chard Town Councillor Banah Crook brought her mother Jamila to meet Prince William on her 80th birthday. Kensington Palace stated that while research shows people are willing to help neighbors during a crisis, far fewer communities have structural plans in place to respond effectively.

Reality Television Spotlight Meets Emergency Planning

The collaboration pairs the Prince of Wales, who serves as patron of the National Emergencies Trust, with Kemp, an ambassador for the charity who has a background reporting from conflict and crisis zones, according to BBC. Town & Country noted that Kemp is currently a contestant on the second season of the BBC reality competition Celebrity Traitors. The series premiere drew 8.8 million overnight viewers, peaking at 9 million and capturing over 50 percent of the total UK television audience.

During the Ilminster event, Prince William joked with a group of young people about attempting to pry a spoiler from Kemp regarding the competition’s outcome.

Town & Country highlighted that the first season of Celebrity Traitors UK is available to stream on Peacock in the United States, with the second season expected to arrive on NBC’s streaming service by next year following its high-profile UK broadcast run.
