Prince Andrew Scandal: Fallout for Sarah Ferguson & Daughters Beatrice & Eugenie

February 23, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has reportedly entered a rehabilitation clinic amid renewed scrutiny over her connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to a report by Page Six.

The move follows the release of millions of pages of documents related to Epstein’s activities, which have reignited questions about the relationships between prominent figures and the disgraced financier. The documents revealed emails where Ferguson described Epstein as “the brother I have always wished for” and, in one instance, appeared to offer him a woman with a “great body.” Another email from 2009 suggests she brought her daughters, then aged 19 and 21, to visit Epstein after his release from prison for soliciting minors for prostitution.

Ferguson’s ex-husband, Prince Andrew, was arrested last week on suspicion of sharing sensitive information with Epstein during his time as a public official, though he has since been released. The scandal has prompted questions about the future roles of their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, within the monarchy.

Royal commentator Juliet Rieden noted Ferguson’s uncertain future, stating, “She will obviously be looking for somewhere to live and for a way of going forward,” and suggested authorities might seek to question the former duchess. Ferguson and Prince Andrew were forced to abandon Royal Lodge last October.

King Charles III is expected to shield Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie from the fallout, according to Rieden. “The king has made it clear that he doesn’t seek to punish the daughters of Andrew and Sarah for their parents’ friendship with Epstein,” she said. “Beatrice and Eugenie are innocent in this, and they’re obviously much-loved family members.”

But, Rieden believes the scandal will likely curtail their future roles within the monarchy. “I think they could have played a slightly bigger role within the larger royal family, but they’re not working members of the family. they do not get money from the public purse.”

Ferguson, who has largely been on the fringes of the royal family since her divorce from Prince Andrew in 1996, has seen her links to charities severed in recent months. Sarah’s Trust, the charity she founded, announced it would close “for the foreseeable future” in September, a decision that had been under discussion for some time, according to a statement from the trust.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, ninth and twelfth in line to the throne respectively, have maintained a low profile in recent weeks. While close to their cousins, Prince William and Prince Harry, their public appearances are expected to decrease as the monarchy seeks to protect its public standing. Both sisters have established their own careers – Beatrice founded advisory firm BY-EQ, and Eugenie works as a director at the art gallery Hauser & Wirth – and are married with children.

King Charles is reportedly providing financial support to Prince Andrew through his private income, continuing a long-standing arrangement. Prince Andrew is currently residing at the Sandringham estate, with accommodations still being prepared.
