Stockholm Police Officer Facing Charges in Extensive Child Sex Crimes Case
A Stockholm-area police officer is facing 22 charges related to sex crimes against children, Swedish broadcaster TV4 News reported today. The alleged offenses – including rape, sexual abuse, and exploitation - reportedly occurred online in 2024 and 2025.
The inquiry began in January following a report concerning crimes against a child. Authorities currently have approximately ten plaintiffs, with the possibility of additional reports emerging, according to prosecutor Åsa Ideström. “At present, we have about ten plaintiffs and I do not rule out that the case can grow with a few more,” ideström told TV4.
The officer, who is in his 30s, has been detained since last spring. Suspicion initially fell on a colleague, prompting involvement from the Department of Special Investigations. Authorities anticipate a potential arrest in April.
Investigators uncovered the alleged crimes after noticing the suspect had switched computers and phones, Ideström stated. “The case started with a notification from a guardian and grew after the switching of computers and phones at the suspect,” she said. The officer had served in both external and internal police roles,TV4 reported.
