Police Report: Burglaries, DUI Arrests, and Storm Damage in Mid and West Zealand
Between October 23 and October 26, 2026, Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi logged a wave of residential break-ins, vehicle thefts, impaired driving incidents, and sudden weather hazards across its jurisdiction, culminating in the seizure of 500 kilograms of stolen copper cables in Kalundborg and multiple arrests for drunk and drug-impaired driving, politi.dk reported.
Residential Break-Ins Reported Across Ten Municipalities
Property burglaries formed a dominant share of the weekend’s log. Ten distinct residential locations suffered break-ins, including properties on Skovvej in Nykøbing Sjælland, Søbæksparken in Jyderup—which recorded two separate incidents—and Strandgården in Solrød Strand.
Additional residential burglaries hit Klostervej and Fjordparken in Roskilde, Stjernedalen and Thorsvej in Holbæk, Krogårdsvej in Greve, Rønnebærvænge in Store-Heddinge, and Rønnedevej in Ringsted. Meanwhile, a school or institution on Kirkevangen in Gørlev Sjælland also experienced a break-in during the multi-day reporting window. No commercial burglaries or summer house break-ins appeared in the log.
Stolen Copper Found in Kalundborg and Recovered Tools in Karlslunde
An anonymous tip on Esbern Snaresvej in Kalundborg led patrol officers to a vehicle packed with copper cables on Sunday morning. Investigators subsequently located further copper supplies inside a nearby apartment, bringing the total estimated weight of the recovered metal to roughly 500 kilograms. Police arrested a 41-year-old Lithuanian resident living in Denmark, charging him with receiving stolen goods (hæleri). He received an indictment immediately before being released, while officers seized both the copper and the car.
Earlier, on Saturday afternoon at Tåstrupvej in Karlslunde, an informant spotted a stash of tools hidden beneath a sleeping bag inside Karlstrupskov forest. A police patrol retrieved the gear and matched at least one serial number to a registered theft. Authorities are still working to trace the owners of the remaining tools.
Tricktyvery in Store-Heddinge and Weapon Seizures
At 12:08 on Friday, a shop assistant on Algade in Store-Heddinge fell victim to a trick theft. A man entered claiming his wife had an appointment at the shop, displayed a note to create distraction, and fled with a mobile phone left on the counter. Police describe the suspect as 40 to 45 years old, 175 to 180 centimeters tall, with brown skin, short black hair, a blue or salmon-colored jacket, and a manner of speaking resembling an Eastern European language. Police noted several similar recent cases.
Weapons enforcement led to multiple charges. On Lillevangsvej in Greve, officers checked a car idling at a gas station just after midnight on Sunday and found a pepper spray in the 23-year-old male driver’s pocket, triggering a weapons law violation charge. A similar weapons charge hit a 22-year-old man who created a disturbance at the Jernbanevej railway station in Ringsted on Sunday morning while carrying both a knife and a pepper spray.
Impaired Driving and Reckless Crashes Force Vehicle Seizures
Traffic enforcement resulted in multiple vehicle seizures under Denmark’s reckless driving laws. On Sunday at midnight, a patrol on Søndergade in Ringsted watched a car drive onto a bicycle path before returning to the road. The driver, a 64-year-old man from Fyn, registered a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit for severe drunk driving. Police seized his vehicle on the spot and revoked his driver’s license.
A second collision occurred at 02:11 on Dronning Margrethesvej in Ringsted, where a 30-year-old local man crashed his car into a parked vehicle while holding a beer. An alcotest revealed a blood alcohol level significantly above the legal maximum. On the coast, a 27-year-old man from Haslev was arrested on Vig Parkvej in Odsherred for driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs while already disqualified from driving.
Weather conditions also triggered road accidents. A 43-year-old driver on the West Motorway near Ringsted lost control when his car aquaplaned, rotated twice, and struck the central crash barrier head-on, sending him to the hospital for a checkup. In Veksø Sjælland, a 42-year-old driver spun into a ditch after losing control.
Gale-Force Winds Topple Trees Across Holbæk Roads
High winds caused sudden infrastructure disruptions early Sunday morning in the Holbæk area. At 05:04, a downed tree blocked Mørkøvvej in Tølløse, requiring emergency fire services to clear the lane. Shortly after, another tree fell across Kongsdalsvej in Mørkøv. At 05:35, a 48-year-old woman from Jyderup driving along Gl Ringstedvej struck a partially fallen tree, smashing her car’s windshield with a branch. A final weather-related hazard was reported just after midnight on Monday, when a 12-meter-long tree fell across Slagelsevej near Holmstrupvej in Jyderup.
