Police Investigate Allegations Prince Andrew Sought Details on Virginia Giuffre
London – Police are examining claims that Prince Andrew allegedly requested a Metropolitan Police officer to provide information about Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused him of sexual assault. The inquiry follows the publication of an extract from Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, detailing her allegations against the Duke of York and raising questions about potential attempts to ascertain details about her background.
The allegations center on a request purportedly made by Prince Andrew to a police officer following Giuffre’s initial claims against him and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Details remain limited, but sources indicate the inquiry is focused on whether the Prince sought to obtain information that could possibly undermine Giuffre’s credibility.
This development adds another layer to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Prince andrew’s relationship with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Giuffre first publicly accused Andrew of sexual assault in 2014, alleging abuse that occurred in 2001. Andrew vehemently denied the allegations, but faced intense public and legal pressure. He settled a civil lawsuit brought by Giuffre in 2022, though the settlement did not include an admission of guilt.
Last week, The Guardian published an excerpt from Giuffre’s memoir, in which she described her first encounter with Andrew, characterizing him as “entitled” and believing “having sex with me was his birthright.”
The scrutiny intensified following a widely criticized 2019 Newsnight interview, in which Andrew claimed to have severed ties with Epstein in 2010. However, subsequent release of emails revealed continued contact between the two, including a message from Andrew to Epstein in February 2011 stating: “Keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon!”
Giuffre’s brother, Sky Roberts, recently stated that his sister would have been “very proud” of the latest developments, but called on King Charles to remove Andrew’s “prince” title, asserting accountability for survivors of abuse.
The Metropolitan Police has not released a timeline for the investigation, and no arrests have been made. the inquiry is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
