The perplexing death of Indonesian Foreign Ministry diplomat **Arya Daru Pangayunan** is deepening as investigators release new details surrounding the final hours before his discovery. The circumstances of his demise remain shrouded in mystery.

Wife’s Alarming Contact Attempts

The Head of the Public Information Sub-Division of the Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner **Ronald Simanjuntak**, disclosed that the diplomat’s wife made three urgent calls to the boarding house guard. These calls preceded the discovery of **Pangayunan**’s body.

The first contact occurred on the night of Monday, July 7, 2025, around 10:40 p.m. The number **Pangayunan**’s wife attempted to reach was unfortunately inactive at that time.

Undeterred, she tried again early Tuesday morning, July 8, 2025, at 00:48 a.m. This time, the guard’s new number was active, and she pleaded for someone to check on her husband’s room. Her persistent concern led to a third call later that morning, at 05:27 a.m., reiterating her request for a welfare check.

Commissioner **Simanjuntak** acknowledged that the duration **Pangayunan** had been missing before his wife’s initial contact is still under investigation. “We will check later,” he stated.

Cell Phone Dead, Guard Called to Room

Previously, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Jakarta Metro Police, **Ade Ary Syam Indradi**, had confirmed that the diplomat’s mobile phone was dead when his wife tried to reach him. This prompted her to request the apartment guard investigate.

The body of **Arya Daru Pangayunan** was found on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m. His body was discovered in room 105 of the Gondia Guest House in Menteng, Central Jakarta, with his head wrapped in duct tape and his body concealed beneath a blanket.

The funeral service for **Arya Daru Pangayunan** took place on Wednesday afternoon, July 9, 2025, at the Sunten Cemetery in Banguntapan, Bantul.

Investigations into the diplomat’s death are ongoing, with police considering an exhumation to gather further evidence. The case highlights the critical role of timely communication in unfolding investigations, especially in cases involving unexpected fatalities.
