Suspect Nabbed En Route to Next Burglary
A man accused of a two-year burglary spree across Auckland, allegedly stealing $2 million worth of property, has been arrested. Police apprehended the 51-year-old as he was reportedly heading to commit another crime.
Months of Surveillance Culminate in Arrest
Authorities had been monitoring the suspect’s activities for several months, gathering intelligence. The breakthrough came Friday evening when police spotted a vehicle linked to the man on Shore Road in Remuera.
Detective Sergeant **Amanda Reed** stated that based on recent inquiries, officers believed the man was en route to commit another burglary.
High-Speed Pursuit Ends Peacefully
Additional police units and the Eagle helicopter were deployed to track the vehicle. The man was followed to Waterview, where police successfully intercepted and blocked his vehicle at a service station, taking him into custody without incident.
During a search of his car, police discovered a variety of tools believed to be used in his alleged criminal activities.
Prolific Offender Accused of Over 50 Burglaries
The 51-year-old is suspected of carrying out more than 50 residential burglaries across Auckland, including areas like the North Shore, Remuera, and Sunnyhills, over the past two years. The estimated value of stolen property is approximately $2 million.
