London Unite the Kingdom March: Police Seek 18 More Suspects Following Clashes
London, UK - Metropolitan Police have issued a fresh appeal for the public’s help in identifying 18 additional individuals suspected of public order offences and assaults on emergency workers stemming from the “Unite the Kingdom” march held in central London on September 13th. this brings the total number of people police are seeking to identify to 29, following a previous appeal last week.
The rally, organized by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, drew an estimated 110,000 to 150,000 attendees who Robinson proclaimed were participating in the “biggest freedom of speech” event in British history. However, the event was met with a counter-protest of approximately 5,000 anti-racism campaigners, leading to clashes between the two groups in Whitehall and Trafalgar Square.Police maintained a visible presence, working to separate the opposing sides.
To date,24 arrests have been made in connection with the protests - 23 linked to the Unite the Kingdom rally and one to the counter-protest. Police identified one individual from the initial appeal of 11 suspects.
Authorities have released 16 new images of individuals they wish to question regarding a range of offences,including public order violations and attacks on emergency personnel. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police.
