Polestar is directly challenging Porsche with its forthcoming Polestar 5, opening orders Monday for the electric performance car priced from NOK 1,259,000. The new model aims to slot into the competitive high-end EV market currently dominated by the Taycan.
The Dual Motor version of the Polestar 5 starts at NOK 1,259,000, positioning it slightly above the base price of a Porsche taycan. The Performance model will cost NOK 1,528,000, placing it mid-range within the Taycan lineup. Polestar Norway communications manager Kristin Fjeld confirmed first deliveries are anticipated between February and March 2026.
The Polestar 5 represents a meaningful step for the Swedish automaker as it expands its portfolio beyond the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3. By directly targeting the Taycan, Polestar is signaling its ambition to become a major player in the luxury electric vehicle segment. The opening of orders marks a crucial milestone in bringing this ambition to fruition.
