PLN Offers Solution for Annoying KWH Meter Beeps: Here’s How to silence Them
Jakarta – prepaid electricity users, commonly known as token electricity customers, are all too familiar wiht the persistent beeping of their KWH meters. This sound serves as a crucial alert, signaling that the remaining electricity credit is running low. While intended as a helpful reminder, the continuous beeping can become a nuisance, prompting users to quickly purchase and input new tokens to avoid a sudden power outage.
Nurmalitasari, Dialogue Manager and TJSL PLN UID West Java, explained that the meter emits a sound when the remaining electricity pulses reach a pre-set minimum KWH limit. Importantly, customers have the ability to adjust these limits to suit their needs. This feature is designed to enhance customer convenience,preventing unexpected power interruptions,especially during inconvenient times like the middle of the night.
For those seeking immediate relief from the beeping, PLN provides specific codes that can be entered directly into the KWH meter.
How to Temporarily Silence Your KWH Meter:
Code 812: Entering ‘812’ followed by the Enter key will temporarily silence the KWH meter. This provides a short grace period, allowing users to purchase and input tokens before the sound resumes. Nurmalitasari clarified that this is a temporary measure, and the meter will sound again once the credit falls below the set limit.
How to Adjust Your KWH Meter’s Alarm Settings:
Code 456xx: To permanently alter the beeping schedule, customers can utilize the ‘456’ code followed by the desired minimum KWH limit. As an example, to have the meter beep when only 10 kWh remain, users should enter ‘45610’. Similarly, to set the alarm for 5 kWh, the code would be ‘45605’. This allows users to customize the warning system to their preference, ensuring they have ample time to top up their electricity tokens.
This functionality empowers PLN customers to manage their electricity consumption and the associated alerts more effectively,contributing to a more pleasant and predictable home energy experience.
