Lynnwood, Wash.- A suspected wallet thief, reportedly with a hankering for pizza, was apprehended by Lynnwood police officers on Friday evening. The individual, who was allegedly using stolen credit cards at local businesses, including a nearby Little Caesars, was taken into custody and booked into jail.

The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. when Lynnwood police responded to a report of a stolen wallet at the Lynnwood Recreation Center. While officers were investigating the theft, an alert was triggered by a Lynnwood Police Department (LPD) automated license plate reader. this alert was associated with a vehicle linked to a separate theft case in the vicinity,according to an LPD Facebook post.

Officers, suspecting a connection between the vehicle and the recreation center wallet theft, canvassed the area.They located the vehicle at a Union 76 gas station on 44th Ave W. Inside the car, officers observed “several boxes of Little Caesars pizza, still hot and ready,” the LPD noted humorously in its post.

The driver of the vehicle was detained. Following further investigation, officers established probable cause to arrest the individual for the recreation center wallet theft, as well as an earlier theft that occurred at the same location on July 13. The suspect was subsequently booked into jail on multiple counts of second-degree theft and second-degree identity theft.
