Pittston Superintendent Arrest: Rehab Admission & Court Delays

Pittston area Superintendent Enters Rehab Amidst Assault Allegations

Pittston, PA – Pittston Area School⁢ District Superintendent⁤ Kevin Booth, 54, has begun a month-long stay‍ in a rehabilitation facility following his recent arrest on charges of simple assault and harassment, ‌according to court documents filed in Luzerne⁢ County.The charges ​stem from an alleged incident involving‌ his ‍wife, Jessica Booth, ⁤on the night ‍of October 5th.

Jessica Booth ⁢alleges that her husband returned home intoxicated and physically assaulted her, including an alleged act of choking.Following his arrest, Kevin Booth ​initially​ stated to investigators he ⁤had “no idea” what transpired, but later denied the allegations, as reported in court records.

A hearing regarding a protection-from-abuse ‍(PFA) order obtained​ by Jessica Booth ‍was scheduled for Thursday morning⁣ but was postponed at the‍ request of Booth’s attorney, kurt T. Lynott. ​ ⁢lynott filed a motion ⁣citing Booth’s voluntary admission to an inpatient⁤ treatment‌ program ⁣for a minimum of 30 days as the reason ⁢for the continuance.

Luzerne county President Judge Stefanie J. ‍Salavantis granted the‌ request, rescheduling the PFA hearing for November 20th. Booth’s preliminary hearing on the criminal charges has also been continued, now set ⁤for November 18th.

Booth, who​ has served as superintendent of ​the⁣ Pittston ​Area School District sence January 2016, was released on ⁣$2,500 unsecured bail following his arrest. The school district has declined to comment on ‍Booth’s current employment status,releasing a statement last week indicating thay “can not comment publicly​ on the handling of personal matters.”
