Payson, AZ – A 20-year-old Phoenix woman died Saturday after being shot inside an SUV on the Beeline Highway near Payson, Arizona. gila County authorities have arrested 22-year-old Donald Nash of Phoenix in connection with the shooting.
The incident occurred while Nash and Keonna Honanie were traveling along the highway when an argument escalated, resulting in Nash allegedly shooting Honanie in the head. The shooting prompted a lengthy closure of the Beeline Highway as investigators processed the scene. This case highlights the ongoing issue of gun violence and its impact on communities, and raises questions about domestic disputes turning fatal.
According to the Gila County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a shooting near a Denny’s resturant and discovered Honanie with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Nash was detained at the scene, and three other individuals, including a 1-year-old child seated next to Honanie, were also present in the vehicle.
Nash has been booked into jail on charges of second-degree murder,endangerment,and resisting arrest. The relationship between Nash and Honanie has not been disclosed by authorities.
