Phoenix Woman Killed in Payson Shooting – Suspect Arrested

Payson, AZ – A 20-year-old Phoenix woman died Saturday after being ‌shot inside ‍an ⁢SUV on ⁤the‌ BeelineHighway near Payson, Arizona. gila County authorities⁣ have arrested 22-year-old Donald Nash​ of Phoenix⁣ in ⁢connection with the shooting.

The ‍incident occurred while⁢ Nash⁢ and Keonna Honanie were traveling‌ along the highway when an argument escalated,⁤ resulting in Nash‌ allegedly ⁢shooting Honanie in the head. The⁤ shooting prompted a ‌lengthy closure of‌ the Beeline Highway‍ as investigators processed the scene. ‍This case highlights the ongoing​ issue of gun ‍violence and its impact on communities, and raises questions about ⁢domestic disputes turning fatal.

According to the​ Gila County Sheriff’s ⁤Office, deputies responded to a report of a shooting near a Denny’s​ resturant ‌and discovered Honanie with a gunshot wound.‍ She was transported ​to ⁣a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Nash was detained at the scene, and three other individuals,⁤ including a 1-year-old child seated next to ⁢Honanie, were also ‌present in the vehicle.

Nash has been booked into jail on charges ​of second-degree murder,endangerment,and resisting arrest. The relationship between Nash and Honanie has not‌ been disclosed by authorities.
