Phoenix Woman Dies in North Phoenix Car Crash

PHOENIX – An 86-year-old woman died Friday‌ following a collision in north Phoenix, police said.

Jacqueline Louise Nelson was‌ critically ⁢injured when her ‌vehicle was struck by a truck near 18th Street and Greenway ⁣Parkway around 11:15 a.m. She was transported to​ a local ⁤hospital by‌ Phoenix⁤ Fire‍ Department personnel, where she later succumbed to ‌her injuries. This incident ⁣underscores the vulnerability of elderly drivers and pedestrians in traffic, a growing concern ⁢as Arizona’s population ages. Authorities are continuing​ to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, and the outcome will likely prompt ‌further review of traffic safety​ measures at the intersection.

According to‌ the Phoenix Police ⁢Department, nelson was attempting a left turn from eastbound Greenway Parkway onto northbound 18th Street when her vehicle entered ⁤the path of a westbound truck.
