walton Goggins addresses Fan Fatigue following Pete Davidson‘s Comments on Celebrity Attention
Actor Walton Goggins publicly responded to recent comments made by Pete Davidson suggesting that heightened public interest in celebrities like himself and Pedro Pascal is temporary and will eventually led to backlash from fans. Davidson, in a conversation with GQ, predicted a shift in public sentiment where fans will tell popular actors to “go the f-k away.”
Goggins addressed the situation, clarifying a previous exchange with Davidson where he believed the comedian was simply sharing his own experiences. He affirmed his respect for both Davidson and Pascal, referring to Pascal as a ”great man” and “dear friend.”
In a statement shared online, Goggins acknowledged the cyclical nature of public attention, stating, “as a 53 year old I’m acutely aware that every experience has a shelf life.” He continued, expressing gratitude for those who have followed his career journey and admitting he understands if some are “tired of hearing my homilies.” Goggins also hinted at upcoming projects he feels obligated to promote, “not for me mind you, but to honour all of those that worked so hard to bring these stories to fruition.”
Goggins framed the attention he’s receiving, including being recently described as a “sex symbol,” as a positive experience. “see to me, being included in this headline isn’t a curse its a blessing. How lucky am I that this is even a possibility?!! I’ve had the good fortune of engaging in so many interesting conversations with so many of you….of collaborating with so many top-shelf people across so many disciplines over the last couple of years.”
He concluded by expressing his intention to fully embrace this period in his career, stating he’s “going to enjoy the fuck out of” it.
