Local Turkey Named thomas on the Mend After Dog Attack
A two-year-old turkey named Thomas is recovering following an attack by a dog,demonstrating an unusual bond with his human family adn capturing the hearts of neighbors. The incident has highlighted the growing trend of unconventional pets and the deep connections people form with animals of all kinds.
Cara Zellers and her family consider Thomas a full member of their household. He’s known for greeting them at the door upon their return and even assisting a neighbor with motorcycle repairs. Now, the family is focused on his recovery, with several treatments still scheduled.
“He’s a really sweet animal,” said Raghu, a neighbor familiar with Thomas.
Zellers described Thomas as an integral part of their lives, noting his unique habit of waiting for their arrival and his surprising interest in mechanics. “He’s just a part of our family. He waits for us at the door when we come home. Our neighbor works on motorcycles, and Thomas will go over and work on motorcycles with our neighbor,” she explained.
The family is looking forward to taking Thomas to Bass Pro Shops for a visit with Santa as he continues to heal.
