Peruvian Athletes Bolstered by Vital Health Campaign: Influenza and Yellow Fever Vaccines administered

In a critically important move to safeguard the health of its elite competitors,the Peruvian Institute of Sports (IPD) hosted a crucial vaccination drive,offering free protection against influenza and yellow fever to its high-performance athletes and technical staff. The initiative,spearheaded by the Ministry of Health (MINSA),took place at the IPD Videna‘s Biomedic Center,ensuring vital preventative care for those representing peru on the global stage.
Approximately 100 individuals benefited from the campaign. Among the recipients were prominent figures from the Volleyball National Team, including athletes Flavia and Kiara Montes, alongside their coach Antonio Rizola. Paradeportista Niel García, a standout in Parapowerlifting, and Jhon Quispe Chipana from the Goalball team also received their vaccinations.
The campaign successfully administered 50 doses of the yellow fever vaccine and 81 doses of the influenza vaccine. Health officials emphasized the critical importance of vaccination, particularly for athletes who frequently travel to regions where these diseases pose a risk.Yellow fever, a serious viral illness transmitted by mosquitoes, can have severe and potentially fatal consequences.
This collaborative effort between MINSA and the IPD underscores a commitment to the well-being of Peruvian sports, recognizing that robust health is fundamental to sustained athletic excellence and participation in international events.
