Perth Crash: Driver Charged Over Deaths of Two Girls
A 24-year-old man has been charged with causing the deaths of two young girls following a vehicle collision in Perth’s north-eastern suburbs.
The man, a resident of Caversham, faces two counts of dangerous driving causing death and one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The charges follow an incident on the afternoon of April 17, when a Ford Territory traveling along Muriel Street in Viveash left the road and collided with a tree. Two girls, aged three and four, were passengers in the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries during the crash.
The children were transported to Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, where they remained for nine days. Both girls died from their injuries on April 26.
At the time of the collision, the 24-year-old alleged driver and a 24-year-old female passenger were also seriously injured and were taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.
