Pep Guardiola acknowledged Arsenal‘s current position as Premier League title contenders while reaffirming his respect for Liverpool, citing their consistent quality despite recent form. The Manchester City manager spoke ahead of their upcoming match against Liverpool, offering an honest assessment of the title race and the challenges posed by both teams.
Guardiola stated that Arsenal are “right now the team to beat,” recognizing their strong start to the season. However, he also emphasized that the season is long and that Liverpool remain a significant threat. “I have a high opinion about Liverpool,” Guardiola said, referencing their historical success and current potential. “Always I’ve had a high opinion about Liverpool.”
City experienced a similar dip in form last season, going 13 games in the autumn and winter wiht onyl one win and nine losses.Guardiola noted, “There is not one manager or club that doesn’t live these situations…we had November to January, February, really, really, really bad. Does that define the team or the culture of the club? Come on. It happened.”
Guardiola also indicated that midfielder Rodri is unlikely to feature against Liverpool after missing the Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund due to another injury setback.
