Paul Finebaum Considers Senate Run Following Charlie Kirk event, Cites Trump‘s Potential Endorsement
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sports radio personality paul Finebaum revealed he would consider a run for the U.S.Senate seat currently held by Tommy Tuberville, inspired in part by an event featuring conservative commentator Charlie Kirk and a feeling of emptiness following news of multiple murders. Finebaum stated he would accept a request from former President Donald Trump to enter the race, calling it “unachievable” to decline.
Finebaum, a longtime Alabama resident and graduate of the University of Tennessee, has spent over 30 years as a sports columnist and radio host. He recently moved back to Alabama after a period in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was based for the SEC Network headquarters. The potential shift into politics comes after attending a recent event with kirk,and following reports of murders,which Finebaum described as leaving him feeling “very empty.”
“If the President of the United States says, ‘Paul, you’re my guy.’ Can you tell him no?” host Clay Travis asked Finebaum. “Impossible to tell him no. There’s no way I could. I would tell him yes,” Finebaum responded.
Finebaum’s career includes work as a sports columnist for the Birmingham post-Herald and hosting a popular sports-talk show on WERC and WJOX. He publicly stated he voted for President Trump in the past and expressed a deep connection to the state of Alabama, saying, “Alabama has always been the place I’ve felt the most welcome, that I’ve cared the most about the people.”
