PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Paris McBride has joined the Southeast Arkansas College women’s basketball program as an assistant coach, the JUCO announced today. McBride brings a diverse playing background to the role, having competed at the Division I level for Morehead State and North Carolina Central.
McBride’s collegiate career spanned five seasons, beginning with a promising freshman campaign at NC Central in 2020-21 where she started nine of 12 games, averaging 6.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.She ranked third in the MEAC in assists and eighth in steals that season, highlighted by a 16-point, four-steal performance against N.C. State on November 29th and a 10-rebound, eight-assist outing versus N.C. Wesleyan on January 11th. As a sophomore in 2021-22, she played in 24 games, making seven starts, and averaged 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 steals, reaching double figures four times with a high of 13 points against St. Andrews.A redshirt junior at Morehead State in 2023-24, McBride appeared in 25 games, contributing 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game, along with 24 assists, 13 steals, and three blocks. she recorded a season-best 13 points against Marshall on November 30th, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. An injury sidelined her during the 2022-23 season. Prior to her collegiate career, McBride was a point guard for the nationally ranked Riverdale Baptist School and competed at Highland Springs High School, where her team was a 2016 Virginia State runner-up and a 2017 State Semifinalist.
Born August 20, 2001, McBride is the daughter of Kareem and Kanika McBride and has a sister, Kiyah, and two brothers, Taylor and Gerard. She played alongside current CSU teammate Skylar Barnes at Morehead State.
