Pergamino gears Up for Historic ITF W35 Tennis Tournament

Pergamino is set to make its mark on teh international tennis scene with the inaugural ITF W35 Copa Municipalidad de Pergamino, running from July 28 to August 3.The tournament, hosted at the Tennis Club on Dr. Valentini 265, promises a week of high-caliber competition, featuring over 70 players.

The event will be broadcast live by ATPORTV, with daily matches commencing at 10:00 AM. A special schedule adjustment will be made for Saturday, August 2, the day of the semifinals, with play beginning at 9:00 AM for television broadcast purposes. The official inauguration ceremony is slated for Tuesday, July 29, in the afternoon, following the day’s matches, and will be attended by local authorities, participating players, and sponsors.

Ticket details has been released, with prices set at $3,000 for Tuesday through Thursday, $6,000 for Friday and Saturday, and $10,000 for the final on Sunday. Notably, the qualification days on Sunday, July 28, and Monday, July 29, will offer free admission to the public. Attendees can also look forward to an open gastronomic patio throughout the tournament, providing a full-day experiance at the club.

Local Stars Julia Riera and Berta Bonardi to Compete

A important highlight of the tournament is the participation of Pergamino’s own tennis stars, Julia Riera and Berta Bonardi. Victorio Costa, speaking at the press conference, confirmed their involvement. “Julia (Riera) was the one who planted the first seed of this tournament. She proposed the idea and was the driving force,” Costa stated. “Although her calendar initially didn’t allow for it, she finally enrolled in doubles with her friend Martina Capurro.” Costa added, “Berta (Bonardi) will also be in the main draw. Having both of them playing hear is something that fills us with pride.”

A tradition in the Making

The Deputy Secretary of Sports expressed optimism about the tournament’s long-term impact, emphasizing its alignment with the municipality’s vision. “This tournament is in line with the project we have from the municipality. Pergamino is historically a sports city. We want this tournament not to be an exception, but the beginning of a tradition. The challenge is that the Pergamino Open has arrived to stay.”

With an unprecedented level of tennis for the city, international talent, prominent local players, national broadcasting, and community support, Pergamino is poised for an unforgettable week. This event signifies more than just a tournament; it marks the beginning of a new tradition on home soil.
