Asterix Park Expansion: New Theme park Planned for Germany
Compagnie des Alpes announced plans to develop an Asterix Park in Germany, marking the first expansion of the popular French franchise beyond its current locations. The announcement coincided with the release of the group’s record annual financial results for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, ending September 30,2025.
The new park, slated to open between 2030 and 2031, signals a meaningful growth strategy for Compagnie des Alpes, owner of several leading European leisure parks including Futuroscope, Parc Astérix, and Walibi. This expansion aims to capitalize on the enduring appeal of the Asterix comics and animated series, bringing the Gallic village and its iconic characters to a new audience while bolstering the company’s overall financial performance. The move comes as Compagnie des Alpes reported a net profit increase of 15.8% to €107 million, with overall turnover rising 12.8% to €1.4 billion.
Driven by strong performance across its portfolio, Compagnie des Alpes saw a 18.9% increase in turnover from its leisure park branch, reaching €678 million. Futuroscope, in particular, experienced substantial growth, attracting 2.6 million visitors.According to Dominique Thillaud, further announcements regarding Futuroscope are expected in early 2026.
The company’s gross operating surplus (EBITDA) also saw a notable rise, increasing by 16.7% to €409 million. This financial success provides a solid foundation for the ambitious German expansion and continued investment in existing parks.
