A high-speed chase involving a vehicle ignoring a police order to stop unfolded Monday morning between the towns of Palosco and Palazzolo sull’Oglio, spanning the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia. The incident culminated with three individuals fleeing the scene on foot, two of whom were apprehended by authorities.
The pursuit began after officers in Palosco attempted to halt a black Alfa Romeo Giulietta following a dangerous overtaking maneuver. According to reports, the vehicle initially slowed but then accelerated towards Palazzolo sull’Oglio, passing through Mornico and Pontoglio. Reinforcements were called in, and a roadblock was established on Via Palazzolo. Despite the obstruction, the driver continued to flee, eventually stopping near the Oglio River.
Three men exited the vehicle and attempted to escape by entering the river. Two of the individuals, identified as F.A., born in 1981, and H.Y., born in 2002, both of North African origin, were successfully detained. The driver managed to cross the river and disappeared into nearby woodland, remaining at large as of Tuesday morning.
Preliminary investigations revealed the vehicle had accumulated approximately ten traffic violations, totaling at least 1,500 euros in unpaid fines. The two apprehended men have been charged with resisting arrest and are facing deportation orders. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta has been impounded, and authorities are investigating whether the vehicle is registered under a false name, suspecting the involvement of a Milan-based front.
Palosco Police Commander Valentino Gambarini stated, “The union makes the force – this operation demonstrates the importance of maintaining a strong presence and control of the territory, as is done daily in Palosco and Bolgare, whose cooperation agreement has been renewed for another five years.”
The distance between Palosco and Palazzolo sull’Oglio, where much of the chase occurred, is approximately 6 kilometers, according to road information services.
