Pakistani Commerce Minister Visits Iran to Strengthen Economic Cooperation
Tehran, Iran – Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a three-day official visit focused on bolstering economic relations between Pakistan and Iran. A press release from the commerce ministry detailed the purpose of the trip.
The visit comes as both nations already maintain close ties, evidenced by previous agreements spanning sectors like energy and trade. khan was greeted at Imam Khomeini International Airport by amin Tarfa’a, an advisor to Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
During his time in Iran, Khan is scheduled to lead the 22nd Session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Economic Commission and co-chair the Pakistan-Iran Joint Business Forum. He will also engage in meetings with key Iranian ministers and senior officials, aiming to strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
According to the commerce ministry, Khan’s visit is intended to inject new momentum into the economic and commercial relationship between the two countries through these collaborative forums.
This visit follows a reciprocal trip to Pakistan by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in August, during which 12 agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed. These agreements covered areas including plant protection and quarantine,joint use of the Mirjaveh-Taftan border gate,and collaboration in science,technology,innovation,and information and communications technology,as reported by Radio Pakistan.
During the August meetings, both sides engaged in extensive discussions regarding their overall bilateral ties, including cultural and religious connections, with the goal of further enhancing cooperation.
