Pakistan proposes Formal Maritime Cooperation with​ Bangladesh

Islamabad has formally proposed a‌ strengthened partnership between‌ the ⁢Pakistan ‌National ‍Shipping Corporation (PNSC) and the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC), aiming to ⁢significantly deepen maritime collaboration between the two nations.

The proposal was presented by Pakistan’s Maritime Affairs‌ Minister,Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry,during a recent meeting in London with retired Brigadier General Dr. ‍M. Sakhawat Hussain, an advisor on shipping for Bangladesh.

Minister Chaudhry underscored Pakistan’s commitment⁣ to fostering ⁢cooperative frameworks with bangladesh,leveraging platforms like the​ International Maritime Institution ⁣(IMO) and the International⁢ Labor organization (ILO) ‌to address seafarer-related issues⁣ and engage with regional maritime‌ groups.

He ⁤highlighted the expanding capacity ​of Karachi Port Trust (KPT), alongside​ ongoing modernization ​efforts ⁣and improved turnaround times, as indicators of Pakistan’s readiness to facilitate increased ‌regional trade. Closer port-to-port collaboration,he stated,has the potential to alleviate logistical hurdles,reduce bottlenecks,and unlock ​new​ opportunities for ⁣commercial integration throughout South Asia.
