Manitoba Taekwondo Prodigy sets Sights on 2032 Olympics After Rising Through the Ranks
WINNIPEG,MB – Paige Krahn,a young athlete from Manitoba,is rapidly making a name for herself in the world of taekwondo, with her sights firmly set on competing at the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane,Australia. The dedicated fighter recently returned from a European competition with her Manitoba team and is already preparing for the national championships in February 2026, aiming to reclaim her national title and solidify her position on the Canadian team.
Krahn’s journey to potential Olympic contention is fueled by unwavering dedication and significant family support. Her parents have provided logistical support, constant encouragement, and financial sacrifices to help her pursue her dream, with the understanding that her academic results remain a priority. This commitment has yielded impressive results, including a bronze medal at the 2024 Australian competition and a bronze medal at the 2025 Canadian Junior Championships in the women’s -68 kg category.
“She always gave 100%. And we are very proud of it,” her father stated, acknowledging he hadn’t anticipated the extent of her success. Krahn herself describes the sport as requiring strategic thinking, stating, “You have to use tactics like a game of chess.”
The turning point for Krahn came approximately two years ago, according to her mother,Reba Krahn, when she “decided about two years ago that this was what she really wanted, and she started working harder than ever.” This intensified focus led to provincial successes and ultimately, a place on the Canadian team. While logistical challenges prevented her from attending the 2024 world championships in Mexico, she continued to compete internationally, demonstrating her resilience and commitment.
Despite a recent trip to Europe with her Manitoba team yielding no titles, Krahn remains optimistic. ”My goal is the 2032 Olympic Games!” she declared. She also expressed gratitude for the support system surrounding her, adding, “everyone around me has helped and encouraged me so much, done everything possible to help me realise my dream, that I hope to continue doing taekwondo for as long as possible.” Her parents echoed this sentiment, stating their wish is simply for her to ”achieve her goals whatever they may be, that she is resilient and strong.”
