China-bound: Consultant Prepares for Season of Retail Innovation Tours
BEIJING - Consultant Ed Sander is gearing up for an intensive 1.5-month period in China, leading two study tours focused on the country’s rapidly evolving e-commerce and retail landscape. The preparations began with a familiar ritual: packing a 6 kg supply of Dutch Stroopwafels, a tradition documented previously (https://lnkd.in/e-dkm46A).
Sander will deliver the ChinaTechTrip tours, encompassing 25 hours of masterclasses, immersive retail experiences, and opportunities to sample Chinese cuisine - including hotpot and karaoke. A new tour is also being designed for returning participants of K5 - Future Retail, offering a deeper dive into China’s retail innovations in April.
The upcoming travel schedule involves visiting nine cities over 40 days, totaling 14 separate journeys with an average stay of three days per location. Sander will primarily utilize China’s high-speed and night train networks, with one unavoidable flight. This trip follows previous fieldwork conducted in March and April.
Two groups, totaling 40 participants, will join Sander to explore the latest advancements in Chinese e-commerce and retail firsthand.
