Pachuca beats América 2-1 in Liga MX Apertura 2026 Jornada 14
Pachuca secured a 2-1 away victory against América during Jornada 14 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament on October 25, 2026, at Estadio Banorte, halting the home side’s celebration for goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.
Alan Bautista Scores Early as Pachuca Leads
The match turned quickly when Alan Bautista opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a powerful strike from outside the area that beat goalkeeper Luis Ángel Malagón. The early deficit forced América to push forward and dominate possession, though Pachuca maintained a disciplined defensive block through the remainder of the first half.
Controversy marked the opening period when referee Maximiliano Quintero consulted the VAR at the 21st minute after Santiago Bueno, Jorge Berlanga, and Malagón contested an aerial ball. The review determined no foul occurred, and a subsequent review involving Carlos Álvarez also resulted in no disciplinary action. Despite América’s sustained pressure, Pachuca goalkeeper Carlos Moreno turned away multiple attempts from Henry Martín and Israel Reyes.
Pachuca Wins 2-1 While América Keeps First Place
América equalized just 45 seconds into the second half when Erick Sánchez crossed to Henry Martín, whose header deflected off his shoulder and head past Moreno for his eighth goal of the season. However, Pachuca reclaimed the lead in the 73rd minute. Salomón Rondón controlled a ball with his back to the net among three defenders and laid it off to Oussama Idrissi, who drove a right-footed shot past Malagón for the 2-1 final score.
With the result, América retained first place in the general classification with 27 points from 13 matches, holding an 8-3-2 record and a +15 goal differential. Pachuca rose to 13th place with 16 points from 14 games, narrowing the gap to four points outside the qualification zone.
