Police Investigate Connected Stabbings at Oxford Circus Tube Station
London, UK – British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for witnesses following two separate stabbing incidents at Oxford Circus station within a 24-hour period. Authorities believe the attacks, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday, are connected.
Officers responded to reports of serious assaults at the central London transport hub at approximately 03:40 BST on saturday morning. A 23-year-old man was transported to hospital with stab injuries. Less than 24 hours later, at 01:30 BST on Sunday, police were again called to Oxford Circus, where a 41-year-old man was found injured and also taken to hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, police have confirmed that neither victim sustained life-threatening or life-changing injuries.
The BTP has released an image of a man they wish to identify and speak with in connection to the incidents. No arrests have been made at this time.While the specific location within Oxford Circus station where the stabbings took place has not been disclosed, the station is served by the Victoria and Central lines and operates Night Tube services on weekends.
“There is absolutely no place for violence on the rail network,” stated Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies. “Detectives are working at pace to investigate these two connected incidents. Passengers will see an increased police presence at the station while officers carry out their enquiries.”
The BTP is urging anyone who was in the Oxford Circus area during the times of the incidents, or who may have facts that could assist the inquiry, to come forward. “Any piece of information might be vital for our investigation,” Davies added.Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the British Transport Police.
