Canadian Golfers Face Early Challenges at The Open Championship

Canadian golfers experienced a challenging start to The Open Championship, the final major of the season. Taylor Pendrith, Corey Conners, and Mackenzie Hughes all struggled during their opening rounds at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. Their initial performances placed them in precarious positions heading into the subsequent days of the prestigious tournament.
Pendrith, representing Richmond Hill, ont., finished his first 18 holes at four-over-par 75, placing him tied for 126th.Conners of Listowel, Ont., carded a three-over-par 74, leaving him tied for 110th. Hamilton’s Mackenzie Hughes faced the toughest start, posting an eight-over-par 79 and currently sits tied for 151st.
Despite the early setbacks for the Canadian contingent, there remains a glimmer of hope. Nick Taylor from Abbotsford, B.C., is currently the leading Canadian player. He is two-over-par through five holes of his opening round and is tied for 86th place overall.
