OnePlus Shifts Camera Strategy, Ends Hasselblad Partnership
Shenzhen, China – May 16, 2024 – OnePlus is discontinuing its collaboration with Hasselblad, signaling a significant change in direction for the smartphone manufacturer’s camera technology. The company is now focusing on a new in-house camera system, dubbed the detailmax Engine, expected to debut with the OnePlus 15.
The move marks the end of a three-year partnership initiated in 2021, aimed at enhancing color science and image quality on OnePlus devices. While the collaboration yielded improvements,OnePlus believes the DetailMax Engine will deliver a more natural and detailed photographic experience. the change is anticipated to remove the Hasselblad branding from future OnePlus phones. The DetailMax Engine is designed to improve clarity and authenticity in photos.
OnePlus recently released initial camera samples showcasing the capabilities of the DetailMax Engine. These images demonstrate advancements in detail reproduction and overall image fidelity. The company has not yet announced a specific release date for the OnePlus 15, but the new camera system is expected to be a key feature of the upcoming flagship device.
