Modena, Italy – A conference this Saturday aims to bridge communication gaps in oncology care, fostering more empathetic and human-centered support networks for patients. Teh Amo – Oncology Patients Association will host The Invisible Cure: Words, Relationships and Dreams in the oncology journey, beginning at 9am in the Sala auditorium of Cibeno Pile, as part of the Pink October events.
The event will launch following welcome remarks and the presentation of Hero, a video awareness campaign on metastatic breast cancer created by Europe Woman Italy, before focusing on the core theme of Communication in the care relationship.
Maria Grazia Lazzaretti, MD, will present on Asymmetries in doctor-patient communication. Following her, Puppa Margutti and Elisa Rossi, both from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, will discuss The unexpressed needs of cancer patients and empathic communication.
Further presentations will include Pierluigi Politi of the University of Pavia, speaking on Considerations on linguistic studies in healthcare, and Milena Casalini of the modena Local Health Authority, addressing Communication complexities in healthcare companies.
A central segment, Words are windows (or walls) in the care relationship, will be led by Dania Barbieri, MD, of the Modena Local Health Authority, with a presentation titled The weight of words in oncology. This will incorporate patient testimonials reflecting experiences throughout their oncology journeys. The conference will conclude with a presentation by Francesca Del Nero of School for Dreamers, entitled I have never stopped dreaming.
