Olympians Shine as 2025 ISA World Surfing Games Open with Strong Performances
El Sunzal, El Salvador – September 7, 2025 – The world’s top surfers, including several recent Olympic competitors, delivered impressive results on the opening day of the 2025 ISA World Surfing Games. Athletes representing nations including Argentina,Ecuador,Brazil,Greece,Portugal,adn China secured early wins,setting a competitive tone for the championship event.
The ISA World Surfing Games, a crucial qualifying event for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, commenced today at La Bocana beach. the competition showcases a diverse field of talent, blending seasoned Olympians with rising stars, all vying for coveted spots on their national teams and a chance to compete on the Olympic stage. This year’s event is especially significant as it provides a key pathway for surfers to demonstrate their skills and secure qualification for the upcoming Games.
Brazilian Olympian Tatiana Medina highlighted the importance of her support system as she navigated the challenges of the competition. “I call (my father), we talk and I’m like, ‘dad, I don’t know what board (to use), I’m a little confused’, and he helps me to stay calm,” Medina shared, emphasizing the role of her family in managing competition stress.She also credited her brother’s encouragement, describing him as her “best friend” and a source of positive energy.
