The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, concluded on February 22nd with a closing ceremony, following nearly three weeks of competition. German broadcaster ZDF aired the final events, including the men’s four-man bobsleigh third run and the women’s 50km mass start cross-country skiing, alongside the women’s freestyle halfpipe final and the curling women’s final between Switzerland and Sweden.
ZDF, alternating with ARD in coverage, broadcast approximately 100 hours of Winter Olympics programming on television. In addition to the televised coverage, ZDF offered up to seven simultaneous livestreams, totaling around 700 hours of content available on sportstudio.de, the ZDF app, and ZDFheute.de. Katrin Müller-Hohenstein and Jochen Breyer hosted the ZDF Olympic studio program.
The games, which began on February 6th, featured a comprehensive schedule of events, with detailed timings and results available on sportschau.de. The schedule included livestreams of all competitions, allowing viewers to follow events in real-time. The Paralympics, too to be held in Milan and Cortina, are scheduled to begin on February 19th, 2026, with a separate schedule of events.
The Olympic Winter Games 2026 were also available via ARD Mediathek, offering highlights, documentaries, and replays of events. Competition schedules were available on both the ARD and ZDF platforms, providing viewers with a range of options for accessing the games.
