Olivier Martinez stormed out of a Los Angeles courtroom during a closed domestic violence restraining order hearing involving allegations that Halle Berry physically abused their 13-year-old son, Maceo, theJasmineBRAND reported.

Martinez Leaves Court After Hearing on Custody Allegations

The French actor exited the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, October 20, looking visibly distressed alongside his attorney, Patrick Baghdaserians, according to Page Six. Martinez used profanity during an animated conversation with his lawyer before stepping away toward the restroom and returning roughly five minutes later. The closed-door hearing follows allegations brought by Martinez accusing Berry of choking and physically attacking their son, Maceo, during a September incident. Martinez subsequently sought sole custody and secured a temporary restraining order earlier in the month.

Maceo testified in person for nearly four hours on Monday, October 19, during a session where the judge ordered the courtroom closed to the public and press. Berry took the stand on Tuesday following her son’s testimony. Jon Hay, a staff member at the school Maceo attends, was also scheduled to give closed testimony after previously raising concerns regarding the child’s behavior at school in court filings.

Berry Denies Claims as Daughter Supports Her

Berry has strenuously denied the allegations through her legal representation. Marina Beck, attorney for Berry, characterized the accusations as entirely meritless and deliberately misleading. The filing by Martinez accused Berry of being violent toward their son while her fiancé, Van Hunt, was present.

The former couple’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, is scheduled to testify later in the week. Nahla previously filed a court declaration supporting her mother, stating she had never witnessed Berry hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any manner.

Custody Background and Next Steps

Berry and Martinez married in 2013, welcomed Maceo the same year, separated in 2015, and finalized their divorce in 2023. Berry is currently seeking to restore their previous shared custody arrangement.

The evidentiary hearing is scheduled to continue on Wednesday, October 21.
