Animated family adventure film “Pirate Mo and the Legend of the Red Ruby” has cleared sales to more than 50 countries ahead of its market premiere at the American Film Market, variety.com reported.
Global Territory Sales Expand Ahead of Market Premiere
Sales company The Playmaker Munich finalized new territorial agreements for the feature, bringing the total distribution footprint past the 50-country threshold. Umbrella Entertainment secured rights for Australia and New Zealand, FilmHouse acquired the film for Israel, and Skyline Media took rights for Vietnam. These buyers join a roster that previously locked down North America through Viva Pictures Distribution, along with multiple regional European and Middle Eastern distributors including M2 Films in Poland, Njutafilms in Scandinavia, and Grand Entertainment for Motion Pictures in the Middle East.
DCM Distribution handles the theatrical release in Germany and Austria, which is scheduled for April 29, 2027. Variety debuted an exclusive teaser for the project as international deals closed ahead of the industry gathering.
Florian Westermann Directs Adaptation of Seeräubermoses Novel
Florian Westermann, who co-directed “The Amazing Maurice,” helms the animated feature. After the young protagonist, Mo, is captured by a rival pirate named Peg Leg Olle, she teams up with a cabin boy named Hannes and his pet bird to defeat the villain and locate the Blood Red Ruby of Doom.
